Foodie Find: Baru Urbano in Brickell
Baru Urbano is uniquely Miami
Lunch, Sunday brunch, happy hour and late night, Baru Urbano has you covered. The Brickell hotspot, across the street from Perricone’s, has indoor and outdoor seating with a rustically urban and upbeat décor. The fare mixes South American and Caribbean cuisine and adds a bit of USA. The result produces several dishes that are Foodie Finds.
The Cartagena Street Ceviche is bite-sized pieces of shrimp in a spicy pink sauce. It’s served in a large, elliptically-shaped serving bowl with small fish forks – great for sharing. The Solomillo is 10 ounces grilled pork tenderloin topped with a blackberry demi glaze. The sliced pieces are tender and the sauce is sweet. The Salmon Amaretto is sautéed in garlic, amaretto and mushroom and served with mashed potatoes – pretty good, indeed.
But dessert steals the show – the Tarta de Fresa Baru is decadent and bold. Made with a merengue crust topped with fresh whipped cream, dulce de leche, walnuts and sliced strawberry, each bite is crunchy, creamy and sweet. It’s a late night dessert Foodie Find. Eat it on the back patio while the music jams and pair it with the Barucento cocktail. This sharp adult concoction has a bold espresso scent and is made with vodka, fresh pineapple and espresso (topped with real espresso beans). Mixologist Gustavo Osuna curates their weekly mixology lineup.
In addition to their Brickell location, Baru Urbano is also in Doral. Both offer takeout and delivery.
